Elle Varner

RapUP

Elle Varner brought some sunshine to the “106 & Park” stage during her appearance on Wednesday’s show. The cute and quirky singer answered questions from the bowl of randomness and spoke about the success of her J. Cole-assisted single “Only Wanna Give It to You,” shooting the video for “Refill,” and her forthcoming album.

She told fans to expect “a lot of color, a lot of range” on her self-written debut Perfectly Imperfect, due later this year. “There’s fun songs, emotional songs, deep songs, everything you could think about is on that album,” she explained.

Elle, who is heading to Europe next, picked up some pointers after touring with Luke James, Stacy Barthe, and Estelle. “It’s been life changing, especially watching Estelle,” she said. “She’s such a veteran and an amazing performer.”

She added, “I got the pen game down. I got the singing down. Now it’s the performance and I’m ready to blow it up.”

DRAKE responds to ViBE…

ThatGoodHIT

Last February Nicki Minaj edged things up as she covered Vibe Magazine’s February/March issue. Just before Nicki’s cover came everyone found out that her Young Money label mate, Drake was originally slated to cover the magazine but lost the cover due to his “Diva” attitude.

VIBE contributor Lola Ogunnaike revealed:

“He was slated to appear on the cover of VIBE magazine to accompany this story [The Dark Side of Aubrey Graham]. But he fouled that up when he arrived more than eight hours late to the shoot and refused to wear any of the wardrobe provided for him.”

“He brought his own clothes, which was mostly Hemès and leather bomber jackets,” revealed a source at the shoot. “But it was a shoot about spring fashion. He was going on and on about wearing his leather bomber, and wasn’t letting it go. He said the [female] stylist was too aggressive, that he wasn’t a model and he wasn’t feeling the vibe. He hopped in his SUV and left.”

Now the “Take Care” rapper has opened up about the issue claiming he didn’t like they way they treated him, read below:

“I didn’t like the way I was treated,” he told UK’s The Guardian. “They ran this story about how I’m the most bitter guy, and my life is in turmoil. And I’m, like, a very happy 25-year-old kid living an amazing life. They tried to put a damper on my character, I guess because I didn’t play according to their rules.”

SHOTS FIRED: Tami Roman & Kesha Nichols Dish On Kesha SLEEPING With A Producer & Jen And Evelyn’s Feud

*Grabs popcorn because this is going to be GOOD….*

THE YBF

“BBW” stars Tami Roman and Kesha Nichols both called into Richmond’s Power 92.1 to discuss the drama and antics of their co-stars on their hit VH1 reality show. They chatted about who is (or isn’t) sleeping with a show producer, how everyone feels about Kenya Bell and the Evelyn/Jennifer blowout. Listen inside………

Power 92.1’s TT Torrez got an earful this morning as “BBW” stars Tami Roman and Kesha Nichols called in to set the record straight about rumors and things that have happened so far on season 4.

Tami said that if she seems to come off as a “bully,” it’s because the editors only show a very slanted perspective of the situations that have happened. She also said she thinks Kesha is getting the “good” edit because she may or may not have a “bedroom close” relationship with one of the shows’ producers. Then she talked about what gave her the courage to open up about her “rape” on the show.

Then, Kesha called in and denied that she was sleeping with one of the producers. She talked about the sudden cancellation of her wedding, what it felt like to grow up bi-racial and that EVERYONE thinks Kenya Bell is a little “off.”

Gabrielle Union talks about her “Boo” Dwyane Wade

The YBF

Gabby recently dished on the current projects she’s working on, as well as how she keeps the relationship going with Mr. Wade throughout the busy schedules and paparazi and rumors. And she seems to be taking it all in stride, especially after the couple’s recent ESSENCE cover story. Here’s her interview with NBC Niteside:

Niteside: What are you up to these days?

Gabrielle Union: We are doing press for Think Like A Man. Last weekend I was at SWSX and soon I will begin shooting the pilot “Single Black Female” for BET. And I just found out about another project, but I cant talk too much about that. I am a little busy, but I love it.

It must be nice to walk down the carpet with your man.

It is. I miss so much throughout the year so its nice when our schedules work for these kind of things.

Is it strange to have your relationship in the public eye?

We don’t get it too bad. It is when we are with the kids on the beach and photographers are there. They didn’t sign up for that, you know? Or when we are with our friends and they are like, “Um, I don’t want my bikini body being photographed!” I always feel bad.

Which city is worse when it comes to paparazzi: Los Angeles or Miami?

That is a tough one. Miami when it comes to the beaches. When we are in Los Angeles, we can be in Malibu and no one knows. But the difference here is restaurants. We can go to popular restaurants and everyone leaves us be.

Do you just accept the photogs after a while?

Yes, it’s part of the gig. We recognize as part of being together in the public eye.

Both said in ESSENCE’s February 2012 cover story that are not in a hurry to hit the altar for a second time.

Another LAWSUIT: Cash Money Records Sued For Not Paying Royalties

HipHopDX

Cash Money Records is under fire for shady business dealings. Again.

Cash Money records is, once again, under fire for not paying royalties.

According to Courthouse News Service via Soul Culture, music giant EMI is suing Cash Money because the label simply ceased quarterly royalty payments they had agreed to make as part of a 2009 settlement between the parties.

Cash Money allegedly owes $491,000 in royalties for samples from EMI’s catalog.

“Because Defendant has ignored numerous communications from EMI regarding Defendant’s contractual obligations, EMI once more is being forced to commence a lawsuit against Defendant to recover royalty payments,” the complaint states. “The sales of Defendant’s products have far exceeded the payments that EMI has received.”“It is clear from Defendant’s conduct that it has no intention of honoring the Agreement,” the complaint continues“Because Defendant has ignored numerous communications from EMI regarding Defendant’s contractual obligations, EMI once more is being forced to commence a lawsuit against Defendant to recover royalty payments,” states the complaint. “The sales of Defendant’s products have far exceeded the payments that EMI has received.”

“It is clear from Defendant’s conduct that it has no intention of honoring the Agreement.”

The turn of events is somewhat less than shocking, as the house that Slim and Birdman built has been a near-constant target for lawsuits over the past several years. Plaintiffs in previous cases have included Bangladesh, producer T-Mix, Done Deal Enterprises, producer David Kirkwood, Bridgeport Music, “Lollipop” producer Deezle, and many, many more. Also of note are high-profile controversies with Mannie Fresh and Wendy Day over money
