Bishop Eddie Long Accusers Penning a Novel

Last year it was reported, The four young men who accused Bishop Eddie Long of sexual coercion will be writing a book together.

The book, called Foursaken, will focus on their lives after they broke ties with the controversial bishop, and they are reportedly shopping it out to try and find a publisher.

Fast Forward…

Now, 18 months after the controversial pastor’s death from an aggressive form of cancer, the alleged victims’ story will finally be told — with a twist.

According to AJC reports, Spencer LeGrande told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he is collaborating, along with some of Long’s other accusers from a 2010 lawsuit, on a novel.

The roman a clef — “Foursaken” — centers around a scandal involving the charismatic preacher of a thriving megachurch. While technically a work of fiction, LeGrande said there should be no doubt the sordid tale of power and betrayal is one they experienced firsthand.

“The last man standing is the strongest,” said LeGrande, now 30 and living in Charlotte.

LaGrande, along with former New Birth Missionary Baptist Church members Maurice Robinson, Anthony Flagg and Jamaal Parris, shared similar accounts about their relationship with Long, who, they alleged, filled a void left by absent or abusive fathers.

An undisclosed financial settlement reached in 2011, after a fifth accuser, Centino Kemp, came forward, prevents them from discussing Long or New Birth.

The 2010 civil lawsuit claimed Long used “monetary funds from the accounts of New Birth and other corporate and non-profit corporate accounts to entice the young men with cars, clothes, jewelry, and electronics.”

New Birth’s Bishop Stephen A. Davis Comments on Leaving DeKalb Megachurch

Last year it was reported, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia, shot down online rumors Monday that Bishop Stephen A. Davis, the church’s senior pastor and successor to the late Bishop Eddie Long, had resigned after just a year on the job.

“Bishop Stephen Allen Davis has not resigned and is currently the bishop and senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in both Birmingham, Alabama and Stonecrest, Georgia. He along with his family are committed to continuing the legacy of Bishop Eddie L. Long in further advancing the Kingdom,” Davis’ executive administrator, Michelle Porter, said in a statement to The Christian Post Monday.”

Fast Forward.

Today, AJC announces Bishop Stephen A. Davis, who stepped in as interim senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb County after the death of Bishop Eddie Long, has resigned.

The news was confirmed by board chairman Thomas W. Dortch Jr. , who said that the “strain on Bishop Davis from having to come back and forth from Birmingham to Atlanta weekly while maintaining his other churches – one in Birmingham and one in Tuscaloosa – became a major challenge for him.”

New Birth in Stonecrest later issued a statement which appears to be Davis’ public first comments since resigning. The statement said Davis considered leaving to be “bittersweet.”

“I love my New Birth Family both in Birmingham and Stonecrest,” Davis said in the statement . “ However, at this time my wife, my children and the New Birth Birmingham family need my full attention. We will remain a New Birth Church in Birmingham and maintain a relationship with the New Birth Stonecrest Congregation.”

Elder Vanessa Long, the widow of Bishop Eddie Long, said she is “grateful that Bishop Davis honored the wishes of my late husband by serving New Birth at a time of need. We pray God’s Blessings over him, his wife, First Lady Darlene, and the Birmingham church family.”

Looks like the church may not survive without him…

According to reports, Obnoxious Media learned about a week ago that the last Sunday in February will be Bishop Stephen A. Davis last Sunday as Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church where the late Bishop Eddie Lee Long pastored. It seems that it has not been a very good situation for Davis. Taking over the work of the controversial Pastor, who died under a cloud of suspicion has proven to be far to difficult for a man that had a good church of his own in Birmingham. Now rumor has it that Edward Long, the oldest son of the troubled bishop is possibly going to sue Davis over some serious financial issues. As a result, Bishop Stephen A. Davis has given his letter of resignation to the New Birth trustees.

Back in Jan 15th, Bishop Eddie Long passed away but it doesn’t stop the IRS from collecting ….

So much for resting in peace..

Bishop Eddie Long has been dead for six months, but that didn’t stop the IRS from hitting him with a posthumous tax lien for $335,000 in back taxes.

According to documents obtained by Bossip, the IRS is asking for $335,216.34 from Long’s estate. After he died of cancer a few months ago, he left behind his wife, Vanessa, and his children, who are now left to deal with this tax lien from the Department of Treasury’s Small Business/Self-Employed department.

If his estate doesn’t come up with the back taxes, the IRS can seize assets, cash, and properties in order to get what it is owed.
